Note:
This version of SCOUT contains an entirely new and redesigned interrupt
handler. It is not compatible with previous versions of CONFIG.COM or
RUNFILE.COM. Tandy 1000 users should add a -t to the command line
when configuring SCOUT with CONFIG.COM as follows:
CONFIG SCOUT -T
The -t indicates that the host machine is a Tandy 1000 that is using a
keyboard that issues a different scan code for the prime key. If -t
is not used and the host machine is a Tandy 1000, the up arrow key
will be interpreted as the prime key when (and if) the prime key is
intended for use as a SCOUT hot key.
The new interrupt handler is much more compatible with Sidekick and with
applications programs that take over the keyboard. If Sidekick is loaded
after SCOUT, then Sidekick may be called on top of SCOUT and SCOUT may be
called on top of Sidekick. If SCOUT is loaded after Sidekick, then
Sidekick may be called on top of SCOUT, but SCOUT cannot be called when
Sidekick is active. In either case, SCOUT will no longer cause the
famous Sidekick chirps.
Archive file (with the .ARC extension) directories can now be listed by
pressing the "R" key with the cursor highlighting an ARC file. Pressing
^P with the listing displayed will send the directory listing to the
printer.
Enjoy!!
